PABSA’s own Igor Figueiredo Wins World Seniors Championship 2024 at the Crucible

San Jose, California, USA (May 20, 2024) – PABSA would like to recognize and felicitate Igor Figueiredo, who has achieved his dream of being a world champion and has done the Americas region proud by winning the World Seniors Championship 2024!

Igor defeated Ken Doherty 5-2 to win the World Seniors Championship for the first time. The victory marks the greatest success of the 46-year-old’s career as he becomes the first player from outside of Europe to lift the prestigious World Seniors crown, and claimed the £20,000 winner’s cheque, the £2,000 high break prize and entry into the Champion of Champions.

Igor secured the entry to the World Seniors Championship 2024 by winning the Pan American Seniors Championship 2023 held in Brazil last October.

“I would like to thank Jason Ferguson and Jason Francis for believing in our region and giving us many opportunities”, said Ajeya Prabhakar, President of PABSA. “We hope that a lot more players in the Americas are inspired by Igor’s phenomenal result and achieve a lot of glory for themselves and our region. Congrats Igor!”
